Maternal Infant Programs
The birth of a child is a very exciting time for a mother and her family. Our maternal infant programs can help make the transition of your new baby a safe and positive one for both mother and infant. Our multidisciplinary team consisting of a Masters prepared licensed social worker, registered dietitian/lactation consultant and a registered nurse will work closely with the family, their physician and other health care providers to provide caring support and education to improve the health and well being of the mother and infant.
- Maternal Infant Health program - working with your physician, our nurses, registered dietitians and medical social workers will follow you through your pregnancy and for one year after the birth of your child. During this time, you will learn how to take care of yourself while you are pregnant, and learn how to care for your infant after birth. Services provided include pre and postnatal mother assessments, well baby assessments, immunizations, counseling, health and childbirth education, transportation and connection with local community resources.
- Healthy Start Support program - This federally-funded program is a collaborative community effort that provides services to pregnant women, infants and their families with or without insurance, focusing primarily on high risk African American women who reside in designated high risk areas. Our multidisciplinary team and a community health lay person provide pre- and post-natal mother assessments, well baby assessments, immunizations, counseling, health and childbirth education, transportation, connection with local community resources, a Life Skills support group and quarterly community consortiums which provide a variety of learning opportunities to enrolled participants.
